Our History

De Uria's Mission

One of the most powerful ways we have to contribute to what happens on the planet is our choice. What we buy, what we consume, our way of life, our decisions at all these levels have an impact on the world. And that's important. It may not seem like much, but every choice brings change. And, as more and more people become aware of their impact on the world, these changes are piling up. We are learning to become responsible stewards of this planet, one person at a time. This is what De Uria does. We are dedicated to providing high quality yoga and lifestyle products for people who want to make sustainable ethical choices.

The story of De Uria

De Uria was inspired during a trip around the world. During this trip, we saw many different communities around the world. These communities are populated by capable and intelligent men and women, many of whom live in difficult economic conditions. Additionally, many of these communities have preserved traditional methods of craftsmanship. They create products with care and attention, fill them with love, and craft them with craftsmanship unmatched by mass production methods.

We were also aware that the textile industry is the second largest producer of pollution in the world. The solution seemed obvious. We have partnered with disadvantaged communities in India, Sri Lanka and Portugal, asking for help from members of these communities to provide handicrafts made using traditional methods. This has allowed us to offer better salaries and a higher standard of living to the collectives of each country. We also help these communities in other ways, such as the women's association we set up in Sri Lanka to provide education to underprivileged women.

Gradually, we have created a global brand using sustainable organic materials. At every step, we have ensured that everyone involved in the process benefits. We offer our producers a better quality of life, and we provide our customers with the highest quality, environmentally friendly and ethically sourced products. More than that, we have gone above and beyond by infusing these products with the healing qualities provided by Ayurvedic herbs. Our products are therefore unlike anything else on the market.

We thought long and hard about creating the De Uria logo. We wanted something that reflected the brand, something simple and clean that aligned with our goal of creating products of the highest integrity that benefit the world. We arrived at an image that mixed two important factors: the heart chakra and the root chakra. The heart is synonymous with connection and caring. It is the energy of compassion that encourages us to work for the good of all. The root chakra is that of grounding, of establishing our intentions in the physical realm. Make it solid and real, rather than just a good intention.

This is the very essence of De Uria: to bring real change to the lives of everyone who participates. We share this with our customers by offering them ethical, healthy and sustainable choices. We help our producers by improving their quality of life and giving them the opportunity to make their lives even better. We are determined to maintain this standard, anchoring the heart more in the physical world as we grow.
